Learning with Mesh

Tell Mesh what you want to learn, and Mesh teaches you like a tutor at a whiteboard: one idea at a time, drawn on the Board, checking how it's going before moving on.

Say what you want to learn

Open a Workspace and say it in your own words. For a new subject, Mesh first asks a few quick questions: why you want it, where you're starting, and how you like to learn.

  • “Teach me how a checksum works”
  • “I have a chemistry test on Friday. Help me get ready.”
  • “Draw how the heart pumps blood”

Have a syllabus, a chapter or slides? Add them to the Library and Mesh teaches from them. No material? Mesh starts from scratch.

Mesh plans your path

Mesh makes a Folder for the subject with a few Topics in it, usually 3 to 5, and starts on the first. Each Topic gets its lessons, one key idea each, ticked off as you go. When the plan changes, Mesh says so in a line: I'm adding a short lesson on headers first.

One idea at a time

For each idea, Mesh draws the simple version on the Board and asks what you think comes next, then adds the real detail and a worked example to the same drawing. The lesson's notes fill in as Mesh teaches, to read back later.

How's it going?

After each idea, Mesh asks how that lesson went. Mesh doesn't move on until you say so.

Got it, keep going ticks the lesson and moves on. I don't get it gets it taught again in smaller steps, Show me an example one more worked example, and Take me back a lesson a recap of the idea before. Or type your own words.

You do the thinking

Before explaining, Mesh often asks what you think will happen; any guess helps (Questions from Mesh). On your own homework, Mesh gives one hint at a time and leaves each move to you. Work it by hand on the Board, then say “Check my work”.

Practice ends each Topic

When a Topic's lessons are done, Mesh makes a short Practice quiz on them, grades it, and goes over each miss before the next Topic. Want one sooner? Say “Quiz me”.

Pick up where you left off

Your Topics, lessons, drawings and quizzes stay in the Workspace, and Memory keeps how you like to learn. Next time, say “Where were we?” and Mesh goes on from your first lesson not ticked.

Prefer to lead?

Everything on this page is Tutor mode, where Mesh leads. In Assistant mode, you lead and Mesh helps: Tutor and Assistant says when to pick each and how to switch.
