Every Topic's page has In this topic — shown above — listing what belongs there by kind: Notes, Library sources, Images, Videos, Practice sets, and Board flags. Edit puts a checkbox on every row and every kind, right in the list. Tick one item or a whole kind and Remove appears; the note above the list says it plainly: removing material does not delete it. Add items opens a simple search where you tick several items and Add them together, and Undo puts a removal back. The count on a topic’s row in the outline opens the same editor as a pop-out, so you can tidy a Topic without opening it.

Note:  Topics do not hold other Topics. Nesting is the topic outline's job, so a Topic is never connected to a Topic.

In topics

Every item shows the same relationship from its end. In topics lists every Topic the item belongs to: open one, take the item out with its red mark, or Add to topic to connect it somewhere new. That picker is Topics in miniature: the same nesting, opened and closed with the same chevrons, the Active Topic marked, and the Topics the item is already in shown as In.

Added by you, by Mesh, or automatically

One item can belong to several Topics, and a connection can be made three ways:

• You, from either end — Add on the Topic, or Add to topic on the item.
• Mesh, when you ask — “Add the syllabus to Week 1” makes the same connection you would. It reads connections from both ends, adds, and removes them, and never invents one you did not ask for.
• Automatically — with Auto-add new items on in Topic settings, everything you or Mesh make connects to the Active Topic as it arrives. With no Active Topic, or the switch off, it stays unconnected until you add it.

Note:  Chat messages, Focus, Board drawings and Pins, topic edits, and Memory never file themselves.

Deletion cleans up after itself

Deleting an item removes it from every connected Topic, along with its Board Reference cards and Pins. Deleting a Topic removes its connection rows, and every item that belonged there survives untouched. Your own writing and past chat keep their saved wording and show No longer available when the target is gone.
