Chat
Chat is where you and Mesh talk. Hand it exactly what you are talking about, watch the answer arrive, and see Mesh create and change real things in your Workspace.
The panel
Open Mesh from the right rail: the conversation above, the message box below. Pull the slim strip on the left to open your list of chats, and one Workspace can keep several chats going. Along the bottom of the message box sit the chat's Model & thinking effort choice and the Commands (/) button for your saved Commands.

Along with your words, one message can carry Focus items, one quote, up to four pictures, and up to four saved Commands.
Questions from Mesh
Sometimes one quick answer from you makes the response better — which example to use, which reading you meant. Mesh pauses and puts one question where the message box was: pick a suggestion, choose Type your own answer to write it yourself (or to say you're not sure), Answer on Board, or Skip. Answer and the response continues, one question at a time; each one folds into Mesh's reply.
Answer on Board is for answers you would rather draw or work out: Mesh steps aside and a frame named for the question appears on the Board — work inside it, then Submit answer. Mesh sees exactly what is in the frame, and the picture stays with your answer in the thread. A question waits only so long; if time runs out, your work stays on the Board.
Questions are optional: Let Mesh pause for questions in Workspace settings turns them off, and Mesh will never stop mid-response to wait.
Point with Focus
Focus hands Mesh the exact thing you mean. Type @ in the message box, or choose Add to chat (@), and the Add to chat search opens over the box. Choose an item to add it to this message as a Reference. Point at as many things as the request needs.
Add to message
Focus says what this message is about; your Active Topic says where you are working. The chip at the top of the panel names the Active Topic, and the message box gets a green edge while one is set.
Pin the thing you keep talking about
Pin an item once and it comes along with every message you send in this chat, so a run of follow-up questions all land on the same thing without you adding it again each time. A pin lasts until you take it off.
Try it. Tap the tab on the message box.
Ask Mesh
The tab tucks the drawer away or keeps it out. The × on a pill takes that item off.
- Open Add to chat (@) and choose the pin beside an item — a filled pin means it is already pinned.
- Pinned items sit in a drawer behind the message box; the small pin tab on the box's top edge opens and tucks it.
- Unpin from chat — on the pill itself, or on the item's card — takes one off. Everything else stays pinned.
Quote one earlier message
When this, that, or it should point back to something said earlier, quote that message. The quote goes with your message as a card that shows the original and can Go to message. Mesh reads it as the words you're both looking at.
Attach pictures
When visual details matter, combine Board views, Board snips, and pasted images in the order Mesh should see them. Remove any one without disturbing the rest.
- Board view sends exactly what the Board is showing on your screen right now. Type /board in chat to add one.
- Board snip sends an area you drag a box around. Type /snip in chat to add one.
- Paste images straight into the message box. Each can be up to 10 MB, and together they share a 10 MB message limit.
The pictures belong to that one message, so you can see exactly what Mesh saw. Pasted pictures save to Images. Board views and snips save there only when Board pictures you send is on in Image settings.
Sent messages don't change
Every sent message keeps a fixed copy of what came with it: the Active Topic, Focus, quote, picture, and Command from that moment. Unpin something or switch Active Topic later and future messages change; the ones you already sent stay exactly as they were.

The transcript is the conversation itself: your messages on the soft gray, Mesh's on white paper.

- Two small buttons sit in the corner of every message: one shows the time it was sent, the other is Quote message.
- A message that went out with pinned items opens with a small pin in the opposite corner. Choose it to see exactly what came along.
- If an Active Topic was set, a crosshair in that same corner shows the Topic path captured when the message was sent.
- Mesh's replies close with the row naming what it created or edited. History & outcomes covers what those rows mean.
- A question Mesh paused for stays folded in its reply. Open it to see the prompt, suggestions, and the answer you gave; a Board answer keeps its exact picture there too.
- A long chat opens on its recent stretch. Show earlier messages brings back what came before.
- Go to message jumps to an older quoted message and highlights it, pulling in earlier messages on the way.
