Navigation & search

Getting where you want to go should take one move. A Workspace gives you several ways to travel — search from the top bar, Ctrl+K from anywhere, a Reference you can tap, a Board flag, Back and Forward — and they all reach the same places. Use whichever one is closest to your hand.

Search Workspaces from the top bar

Switch workspace opens your recent Workspaces below the header, most recently used first. The Workspace you are in is marked Current and cannot be selected again. Search by name to find another Workspace. Home and Settings also have a Search workspaces field.

Navigate this Workspace

Search this workspace finds content here by name. Open it from the header or press Ctrl+K. On narrow screens, the header shows its magnifier beside the workspace switcher.

Choose any result and you are there. The round buttons narrow it to one kind; with none chosen, everything shows.

It reaches everything a Reference can reach, by title.
Right-click a row — or hold it on a touchscreen — to read its details without leaving the search.
It searches names, not the words inside your files. To search inside a source, ask Mesh.

Back and Forward follow content

Every piece of content you open in a panel joins a trail, whether you went there yourself or arrived through a Reference. The Back and Forward arrows beside the panel's title retrace it, each naming the stop it lands on when the panel has room.

Try it. Back and Forward retrace the trail, and the panel changes with it.

Open something new after going Back and the forward path is gone, exactly like a browser.
The trail lasts for the current session and starts fresh when the page reloads.
A jump to the Board can close the side panels when Focus the board on jumps is on in Workspace settings.

Tip: Rename an item the moment you make it: Ch 4 practice set is still one search away months later, while a Note left as Untitled note is indistinguishable from every other one.
