What Mesh can do

What you can ask Mesh for, part by part — and the page that teaches each in full. Mesh already knows where you are and what the Workspace holds; each section says what it knows without being asked.

Notes

Mesh knows how many Notes you have, not what they say, until it opens one. It can search every Note and Overview at once, and read one straight through. It can write a new Note, formatted the way a person would format it, and edit an existing one in place — a section at a time, leaving the rest alone. It can rename a Note, set a saved Image into the writing, and file what it makes under your Active Topic. Taught in full on Notes, with What a Note can hold.

Library

Mesh can search and read anything in your Library that is in Library storage, and work from what it finds. It reads a source straight through when the whole thing matters, and searches inside all of them when it is hunting one passage. It can rename a source and file it under a Topic. What it cannot do is put anything into Library — you add every source yourself — and it cannot put an item into Library storage or take one out. Taught in full on Library, with Choose what uses Library storage and Add to Library.

Images

Mesh can look at a saved Image when the answer needs eyes on it, generate a new one from a description, and edit one you already have — an edit saves as a new Image and leaves the original alone. It can set an Image into a Note, pin one to the Board, rename it, and file it. Generating and editing spend credits. Taught in full on Images, with Where pictures come from.

Videos

Mesh can see a Video's title, its link, and where you left off — and that is all. It can find one, rename it, and file it. It cannot watch, listen to, or transcribe anything. When the content itself matters, give it the text or a picture instead. Taught in full on Videos, with More for you than for Mesh.

Practice

Mesh knows how many Practice sets you have and can open one to read its current cards or questions. It can create a complete Quiz or set of Flashcards, rename it, and edit its ordered contents after reading the live version. When you ask about a past Quiz Attempt, it can read the submitted choices, typed answers, Board evidence, score, and feedback; it cannot grade or change an Attempt. Taught in full on Practice, with Grade and review each Attempt.

Comments

Comments are short reminders you attach to a Board flag or a Board page. They save as you type. Mesh can read them when they help, but it cannot add, change, or delete them. A Comment explains why something matters; it does not change the item itself.

Topic outline

Mesh arrives holding the shape of your topic outline and whether a Topic is active. It can read the outline back, or one branch of it, and it can reshape the whole thing — adding Topics, renaming them, moving them, and reordering them. Removing one stays yours, from the Topics panel. Each Workspace has one topic outline, which can start empty. Taught in full on Topics, with The Active Topic.

Topics

Mesh can create a Topic, rename one, and set your Active Topic when you say what you are working on. Every Topic has its own note, and Mesh reads and writes it the same way it handles a Note. An Overview's title is its Topic's name, so renaming the Topic renames the note. Taught in full on Topics, with The Overview works like a Note.

Topic connections

Mesh can add anything you have saved to a Topic, remove it again, and tell you where something belongs from either end. Ask it to tidy up and it can make several changes together. New material connects automatically only when that setting is on and a Topic is active; with no Active Topic it stays unconnected. Taught in full on Topic connections, with Added by you, by Mesh, or automatically.

The Board

Mesh can look at the Board — your current view, a region you hand it, the page as a whole, the last thing you drew, a flag, or a pin — and it can add formatted text, diagrams, and saved Images in titled frames of its own. It can also drop a flag you can come back to. Taught in full on Mesh on the Board, with What Mesh can look at on its own and Ask Mesh to add real content.

Chat

Mesh answers one message at a time, and may pause for one short question before continuing. You aim it by pointing: hand it a saved item, quote an earlier message, or attach a picture. Taught in full on Chat, with One response at a time.

Mesh Docs

Ask Mesh how any part of the app works. It can search and read the official Mesh Docs, answer from the relevant page, and link you there for the full guide. If the Docs do not cover a product detail, Mesh says so instead of guessing.

The live web

Mesh can search the web and read a page as it stands right now — the difference between the live page and the dated copy Library keeps. Nothing it reads live is saved. When you want to keep it, save it yourself and it becomes something Mesh can search from then on.

Commands

Mesh can write a new Command for you and change one you already have, so you never have to open the menu to make one. Taught in full on Commands, with Save an instruction by name and Create and manage Commands.

Memory

Mesh writes the facts worth carrying between chats — each one has a short line, and some carry more detail behind it — and keeps a scratchpad for open loops in one chat. It reads relevant detail back before teaching or planning, so the help fits you. You hold the erasers. Taught in full on Memory & scratchpad, with Mesh writes them, you hold the erasers.

History

There is no History screen — you ask Mesh. It can tell you what changed, who changed it, and when, and it can put an earlier version back by making the edit again. Taught in full on History & outcomes, with what is recorded and what is not.

What Mesh never does

Four boundaries hold everywhere, so you never have to wonder on a given page.

  • It never deletes anything you saved. Not a Note, a Practice set, a source, an Image, a Video, a Topic, or a Command. Deleting stays in your hands.
  • It never adds a source to your Library. You add every file and saved page yourself.
  • It never changes a setting. Appearance, your plan, and what Mesh is allowed to read are all yours.
  • It never acts on its own. It reads and writes when your request calls for it, and it tells you what it did.

When Mesh cannot complete a request

If you ask for something Mesh can't complete, it says so plainly and names what it needs to continue.

Tip:  Not sure whether Mesh can reach something? Ask it — naming the thing you mean is faster than reading a list, and a refusal tells you exactly what it would need. When freshness matters, ask it to open the item right now: what it read yesterday tells you where to look, not what is there today.
